Repton is the ancient capital of Mercia, founded in 1557 from a bequest by Sir John Port of Etwall. The school is established on the site of a 7th-century Anglo-Saxon Benedictine abbey and a 12th-century Augustinian priory, with many original buildings still in use.
The school has over one thousand pupils across the Prep and Senior School, fostering excellence and individual growth. Repton and Repton Prep became a through-school in 2020, maintaining a close relationship.
At Repton Senior, each pupil is a member of a House. The school maintains high academic standards and promotes creative activities including music, art, drama, and design. It has a strong reputation in sports such as football, hockey, cricket, and swimming. Pupils develop skills, qualities, and values for a successful life.
Repton was among the first British schools to establish overseas campuses, including Repton School Dubai (2007), with additional schools in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, China, and Egypt, and plans for further expansion. The UK includes five schools: Repton, Repton Prep, St Wystan’s, Vinehall, and Marlborough House, with ongoing growth ambitions.
