Learning Supports Assistants - Newham
3x LSAs required to support pupils with SEND across KS3-KS4 at a Mainstream Secondary School in Newham. Previous experience working with challenging behaviour is essential but does NOT have to be school based experience i.e. Youth Mentor, Youth Support Worker, Alternative Provisions/Pupil Referral Unit, Behaviour Mentor, SEMH.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with teachers and other professionals to support students with SEND andchallenging behaviour in the classroom.
Implement individualised learning programs designed to meet the specific needs of students.
Promote positive behavior management techniques
Assist with the development of personalised educational plans (IEPs)
Provide emotional support to students, helping them develop self-esteem, confidence, and resilience.
Create a safe and inclusive learning environment, ensuring the well-being of all students.
Assist with administrative tasks related to student records and documentation.
Requirements:
Experience working with secondary school students with challenging behaviour or SEND is highly desirable.
Ability to manage challenging situations and maintain composure in a classroom environment.
Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and techniques.
An understanding of relevant legislation and policies related to SEND and safeguarding.
A relevant qualification or training in education, special needs, or a related field is advantageous.
