Job Description
We’re looking for Care Professionals who are kind and compassionate and who, by understanding our values and our mission, are dedicated to delivering the highest standard of care. To ensure continuity for both Clients and Care Professionals, you will see the same Clients every week, with minimum one hour visits, enabling you to build a relationship and a routine focused around quality of life in the comfort of the Client’s home.
Home Care is care carried out in an older adult’s own home, rather than in another setting like a hospital, assisted living facility, care home or nursing home. If the person needs specific medical care it may be recommended that they move to one of these facilities, but most types of care – including complex care, dementia care, palliative care and more – can take place in the home. Home carers can assist with daily living activities in a safe manner while the older person remains in the comfort and familiarity of their own home where they can retain some or most of their independence. Home carers can help with tasks such as:
* Personal care (such as getting to the bathroom and getting dressed)
* Helping clients get to the bathroom during the night
* Providing medication reminders, and administering this if relevant
* Encouraging the person to eat nutritious meals
* Providing meal preparation and cooking, while adhering to any dietary requirements
* Helping with regular housework and other chores
* Helping clients with mobility issues to move around safely in the home
* Driving clients to weekly appointments
* Offering regular companionship and observing their mental health
* Organising enjoyable and stimulating activities for the client
The home environment is a key part of maintaining dignity in care for older adults, more so than other settings. Studies have found those receiving care in other settings, such as a hospital, experienced mild to severe loss of dignity. For this reason, helping an older adult to remain in their own home could drastically improve their care experience.
