The project:Our Mobility team is continuing to expand, and we have a fantastic opportunity for a Design Manager to join our Aviation team on a full-time permanent basis in West London. In this role, you will contribute to the management and coordination of integrated solution development - ensuring design options are deliverable, high quality, aligned across multiple work packages, and meet stakeholder expectations. You will also support the timely delivery of tranche package documentation in line with the programme’s strategic objectives.
Note: This role is based on site in West London 3 days per week. 2 Days hybrid.
You’ll be responsible for:
1. Supporting Senior Design Managers in fulfilling their responsibilities across the programme.
2. Assisting in managing multidisciplinary design and engineering contracts, including contract administration activities.
3. Planning, coordinating and overseeing the production of design and engineering deliverables to ensure alignment with programme strategies, project requirements and milestones.
4. Monitoring performance and progress, contributing to regular reporting and governance processes.
5. Identifying, tracking and managing risks and opportunities throughout all gateway stages.
6. Supporting optioneering activities and the development of integrated solutions, including facilitating reviews and approvals with stakeholders.
7. Managing the preparation of documentation for the DCO, early works packages and wider programme need.
8. Promoting quality, safety and sustainability throughout the design and engineering process, integrating inclusive design principles and reducing design risk.
9. Driving continuous improvement through the capture, sharing and application of best practice, contributing to team capability and succession development.
You’ll need to have:
10. Professional membership and strong project delivery experience in aviation and complex programmes.
11. Proven capability managing multidisciplinary design and engineering suppliers.
12. Background in construction and consultancy with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
13. Knowledge of NEC, airport environments, DCO processes, and sustainability considerations.
