3-month contract position with a local authority Summary This is a 3-month contract position with a local authority. The role involves the effective collection and recovery of all council secure, temporary, and use-and-occupation rent accounts. The objective is to maximize income while promoting tenancy sustainment. The postholder will make decisions in accordance with legislation, council policy, and court protocols, collaborating with tenants, courts, and enforcement partners to achieve timely and accurate recovery outcomes. Responsibilities Manage a caseload of rent accounts, ensuring recovery activity is timely, accurate, and compliant with legislation and internal procedures. Undertake proactive recovery action using various methods, including correspondence, phone calls, home visits, and legal processes. Assess individual circumstances to determine appropriate recovery routes, considering vulnerability, affordability, and the Equality Act. Promote tenancy sustainment by providing advice, support, and referrals to welfare, financial, or specialist support services. Essential Experience Demonstrable experience in rent recovery, income collection, debt management, or a similar recovery environment. Experience dealing directly with the public, including handling challenging conversations, negotiation, and providing clear advice. Essential Qualifications Full UK Driving Licence and access to own vehicle with business use insurance. GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English. Additional Information Working hours: 36.25 hours per week. Umb rate negotiable. £22.11 - £25.770 umb/hr Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate will be required to be onsite a minimum of 3 days per week, followed by hybrid working after an initial training period. We operate on a bi-weekly payment schedule. The role closes on 30th March 2026, apply ASAP.
