The successful candidate will be expected to provide preoperative assessment, perioperative and postoperative care to patients across both sites of this busy Teaching Hospital Trust. This will require some ability to work independently although Consultant cover is always available. The successful candidate will be expected to provide anaesthesia for the broad range of surgical specialties on site, including General surgery, Urology, Orthopaedics and Trauma, Ophthalmology and Gynaecology, as well as Hepato‑Biliary, Vascular, and Major Head & Neck services. The on‑call commitment will be on a 1:11 basis (non‑prospective) based at Burnley General Hospital, providing emergency services for Obstetrics and Gynaecology covered by a two‑tier rota with distant consultant supervision. The post holder will be resident and support the trainee rota by providing emergency gynaecology services alongside support for the obstetric unit. Theatre sessions will be flexible in site and speciality according to negotiation and the requirements of the service.
