Are you a band 5 or 6 looking to gain further experience in the acute setting? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Physiotherapist to join our friendly, innovative and dynamic Therapies team at Kettering General Hospital. We welcome applications from Physiotherapists who are looking for full-time, part-time hours and secondment opportunities. This is a 4 months fixed term post.

The post holder will be within a roaming therapy team providing expertise and assessment to the discharge hub, escalation areas and medically fit ward/areas with complex therapy needs impacting discharge.


Main duties of the job

The main duties for the post entails:

* Be the therapy representative at discharge hub meetings - providing consistent, expert therapy advice to inform accurate and appropriate hub decisions first time.
* To provide advice and support to ward therapist on complex cases delaying discharges (identified via, discharge hub, bronze, stranded or therapy staff themselves).
* To provide therapy cover to escalation areas - ensuring these are prioritized equally to the base wards.
* To provide additional senior therapy decision maker on the medically fit wards to enable positive risk conversations and improve flow.

Attendance on the full induction programme is a mandatory requirement prior to starting in the work area. Therefore, if parts of this induction fall outside of the normal contracted hours of duty for this position, you will be requested to make arrangements to enable you to fully attend the Induction.

Person Specification


Qualifications

Essential:

* Educated to HCPC Registered Physiotherapist level or equivalent level of education, training or experience
* Evidence of Post graduate CPD, including attendance at recent relevant post graduate learning events

Desirable:

* Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy


Knowledge/Experience

Essential:

* Up to date with professional practice and research
* Education of other MDT members.
* Understanding of legal responsibilities.
* Up to date with professional practice and research
* Understanding of clinical governance and its implication for services including quality and audit.
* Experience of deputising for Senior staff.
* Relevant experience working within the NHS environment.
* Ability to work across 7 day service

Desirable:

* Knowledge of community-based therapy services and services that external partners offer


Skills

Essential:

* Good clinical knowledge base of physiotherapy within the acute setting and Respiratory conditions.
* Good knowledge of the role of Physiotherapy in Effective Discharge planning from the Acute setting
* Able to present information written and orally in a clear and logical manner.
* Able to demonstrate good organisational and delegation skills.
* Proven flexible working practices.Be able to cope with demands of a busy department including prioritisation.

Desirable:

* Able to assist others in learning.
* Able to motivate others and take the lead as necessary.
* Ability to organise training.
* Evidence of participation in research / audit.


Other

Essential:

* Good communicator.
* Team worker.
* Able to carry out moderate to intense physical activity throughout the working day.
