Job Summary
Urban Village Medical Practice is looking to recruit 2 salaried GPs to cover maternity leave. Post one: 6 sessions (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday) from October. Post two: 4 sessions (Wednesday and Friday) from mid December. We are a dynamic and supportive practice located in Ancoats/City Centre Manchester. Newly qualified GPs are welcome to apply.
Main duties of the job
The Locum GP will be a key member of the team and the job plan will involve a variety of duties.
* Surgery consultations, using a variety of methods/applications (telephone, video, face-to-face)
* Home visits including support for palliative patients
* Taking part in the on-call rota and staying at least one day per week until 18:30
* Checking and signing repeat prescriptions
* Dealing with general queries
* Dealing with paperwork and correspondence
The locum GP will need to have:
* Good organisational skills and a methodical approach to work given the complexities in primary care
* Excellent communication skills, clear and effective
* Good time management skills
* Ability to work under pressure
* Initiative to work independently
* Good IT skills
* Commitment to providing quality and patient satisfaction
* Team player with a good sense of humour
There will be some flexibility on days/session times as the GP contract requirements dictate. Additional sessions may be available to cover holidays/sickness.
About Us
We are a friendly, City Centre GMS practice with 13,600 patients and a Homeless Healthcare Service providing proportionate care to those experiencing homelessness. The established team comprises:
* 3 GP partners
* 10 salaried doctors
* 2 practice nurses
* 3 Homelessness Specialist nurses
* 1 Practice Community Nurse
* 2 HCAs
* 2 Pharmacists
Our business and back-office functions are supported by experienced managers and a large pool of admin and reception staff. We hold regular clinical meetings and are a training practice. On-site parking and EMIS, with Footfall for online triage and Docman for document management. We provide morning huddles and lunchtime peer support meetings.

Job responsibilities
* Delivery of highly effective medical care to the local population using telephone, video and face-to-face consulting
* Provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
* Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
* Effective management of long-term conditions
* Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other related tasks
* Undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles on a rotational basis
* Maintain accurate clinical records in line with best practice, policy and guidance
* Work collaboratively, sharing the practice workload
* Adhere to best practice and audits
* Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
* Attend and contribute to practice meetings
* Contribute to development and maintenance of the practice, including clinical governance, training, financial management and HR

Person Specification
Essential
* Qualified GP (MRCGP or equivalent. GMC registration)
* Full GMC Registration and eligibility to practice
* Appropriate indemnity
* Experience in primary care, CPD and QOF
Desirable
* Experience in inner-city, diverse populations
* Interest in inclusion healthcare and health inequalities
* Experience in managing long-term conditions and multimorbidity
* Understanding of local pathways and integrated care systems
* Experience supervising trainees or learners
* Additional clinical skills or special interests (e.g., dermatology, women's health, mental health, minor surgery, MSK, etc.)
* Interest in digital innovation and data-driven care
* Flexible and resilient approach to working in high-demand areas
