Role Overview
We are excited to be hiring a new Traffic Regulation Orders Officer to join our Traffic Regulation Orders Team based at The Merrow Complex in Guildford. This role is open to hybrid working, with two days per week in the office and work-from-home options. The team is committed to the training and development of new staff through the Professional Development Programme (PDP), covering three pay grades (30,647 - 39,820) and offering on‑the‑job learning to prepare you for a valued officer position.
Responsibilities
As a Traffic Regulation Orders Officer, you will be responsible for drafting Temporary Traffic Orders/Notices and Permanent Traffic Orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. You will create accurate, time‑sensitive statutory notices and orders, and provide advice on the process and related legislation to internal and external stakeholders.
In addition, you will develop relationships within the team and with other agencies requesting traffic orders, ensuring that all orders are in place prior to any works on the highway and that the council’s legal duties are met efficiently.
Qualifications
* Good IT skills including Word, Excel, Outlook
* Ability to prioritise and plan your own workload in the context of conflicting priorities and work on your own initiative
* Good written and spoken communication skills with the ability to build sound relationships
* Ability to understand and use relevant legislation and associated procedure regulations
