 
        
        We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Islingtonto assist with the appointment of a Care Worker to work in a residential care setting.
We have both regular shifts (40 hours per week) and bank shifts available. Please note that we don't offer sponsorship, and the worker should be able to work full time without restrictions. We would need 5 years work references checked out before you start the shifts.
Rate of Pay: £18.33 - £24.40 per hour
Summary
Islington Provider Services is seeking a dedicated Support Worker to join the Residential and Respite Services team. The service enables individuals to maximise their independence, building on their strengths to live healthy, independent lives. This role is based within residential and respite services, such as Orchard Close (a 7-bed residential care home for adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs), but requires flexibility to work across Provider Services. The services support adults over the age of 18 with a range of needs, including learning disability, physical and sensory needs, mental health, and older people
Responsibilities
 * Carry out Support Plans and provide care and support, which may include personal care tasks and domestic tasks
 * Provide support with medication as detailed in the support plan, in accordance with the NICE Guideline (NG67) and the Services Medication Policy.
 * Safely move and handle people experiencing mobility difficulties, using specialist equipment in line with individual support plans
 * Report any safeguarding concerns immediately, whether confirmed or suspected, to the Duty Manager in line with the Council's Safeguarding Policies & Procedures
 * Ensure that the Care Act 2014 is implemented in all aspects of the role.
 * Adhere to Islington Council's policy and procedures in the handling of a person's personal property, including money and keys
Qualifications
 * Attainment of a Level 2 NVQ or QCF Level 3 qualification.
Essentials
 * Willingness to undertake specialist training in line with the service's needs (e.g., autism/dementia/sensory awareness)
 * Willingness and ability to travel across the team geographical area
 * Experience of working with adults with complex needs and behaviours that may challenge within a learning disability setting is essential.
 * Experience of working with people with differing needs and from black and minority ethnic communities in inner city areas
 * Awareness and understanding of safeguarding, including legislative responsibilities and "Making Safeguarding Personal"
 * Awareness of health and social care legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and the Mental Capacity Act 2007
