Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
KLA's Corporate Platform Group (CPG), Part of the Central Engineering Group, responsible for developing the Equipment Front End Modules, which are part all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Manager to lead our dedicated team of Mechanical Design Engineers. The ideal candidate will have strong people manager experience, with a consistent track record of fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. As the Manager of the Mechanical Engineering Design Team, you will play a crucial role in guiding and mentoring our designers, ensuring the successful execution of projects, driving continuous improvement in design processes, and recruiting top talent to join the team!
Key Responsibilities:
* Responsible for the complete mechanical design process, including requirements specification, feasibility studies, design reviews, cost management, and scheduling.
* Collaborate with multi-functional teams to establish design requirements, implement the best design practices, and achieve functional product design solutions.
* Leading complex projects involving multiple stakeholders.
* Design mechanical components in CREO Parametric 3D - Pro/E CAD software.
* Conduct or direct CFD and FEA analyses to optimize Semiconductor Equipment airflow requirements and mechanical design.
* Reduce 3D mechanical designs to 2D drawings and apply mechanical tolerancing/GD&T to achieve desired fit and functionality of manufactured parts.
* Collaborate with suppliers to develop components and sub-system assemblies that will expedite the product development timeline and to ensure parts and assemblies are built per design, and cost and schedule requirements are achieved.
* Participate in the entire design/build cycle, including design, 3D CAD modeling, design review presentations, 2D drawing generation, procurement of prototype parts, system integration, and prototype testing.
* Lead, mentor, and develop the team providing guidance and support to achieve individual and team goals.
* Ability to manage subcontractor and turn-key suppliers while meeting functionality, timeline, cost and quality targets
* Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
* Manage resource allocation, project timelines, and budgets to optimize team performance and project outcomes.
* Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and find opportunities for professional growth and development.

Minimum Qualifications
Qualifications and skills required:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (minimum requirement).
* Experience of leading teams of a minimum of 5 employees, mandatory within a mechanical design engineering environment
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to empower and inspire a team with varied strengths.
* Experience of managing both direct reports as well as contractors
* Excellent project management skills, with an ability to lead numerous projects simultaneously.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, materials selection, and fabrication/machining methods.
* Experience in several of these areas is desirable: CREO Parametric 3D MCAD - Pro/E software, CFD airflow analysis; FEA analysis; Design for manufacture (DFM); Design of welded sheet metal structures and frames; Measurement instrumentation, testing and data acquisition; Programming in Python, C/C++/C# and/or MATLAB.
