SEMH LSA needed in Dagenham
Do you have a background in SEMH, SEBD, or experience working in a PRU? Have you handled challenging behaviour?
TLTP are seeking a strong and resilient LSA to join an SEMH school based in Dagenham.
This specialist school caters to young people who have been permanently excluded from mainstream education. It offers excellent expertise, curriculum, and resources in special education.
Applicants must have experience working with mental health issues and complex behaviours. The school aims to provide a safe, stable, and supportive learning environment for all students.
The role involves working with secondary-aged pupils with SEMH and SEBD, including attachment disorder. Students have diverse needs, from mild learning difficulties to gifted and talented, and are supported through highly personalised education plans.
The Therapeutic Education Department collaborates with healthcare professionals and community services to support students effectively.
This position starts ASAP with interviews scheduled for next week.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Exhibit excellent behaviour management skills.
2. Build positive relationships with students and staff.
3. Possess Team Teach or similar restraint training certification.
4. Have good knowledge/experience working with children with SEMH in a special needs environment.
5. Work collaboratively with teachers to develop appropriate activities based on curriculum and individual needs.
6. Assess children with learning difficulties and work with colleagues to identify specific needs.
7. Liaise with professionals such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and educational psychologists.
This is a full-time, long-term role with the potential to become permanent.
Skills and Experience Required:
* Experience with EBD/SEBD/SEMH
* Mental health experience
* Experience with ASD
* Excellent behaviour management skills
* Current DBS on the update service
* Classroom experience
* Experience working with primary or secondary students
* Availability for immediate interview
