Overview
HGV Technician at Derby City Council. Location: Stores Road, Derby. Contract / Hours: Permanent, Full-time 37 hours. Monday to Friday, daytime working with some flexibility. Reference: 000011361.
Salary: Guaranteed basic salary £37,280 - £39,862 per annum (dependent on previous experience). On target earnings of £42,000 will be made up of standby, call out and bank holiday working. This will be carried out on a rota basis and earnings will vary with basic salary and hours worked.

Responsibilities
You will be part of a hardworking and dedicated team to carry out the repair, maintenance and diagnostics of Heavy and Light Commercial Vehicles and associated equipment. This may include electrical and hydraulic systems, along with some welding and fabrication work. There will be an opportunity to work overtime on Bank Holidays. You must be willing to go on a call-out standby rota covering out-of-hours breakdowns with a standby payment and enhanced rate for time spent on actual call-outs.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* City and Guilds Level 1, 2 and 3 or equivalent NVQ in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, with relevant experience working on HGV vehicles.
* Experience with specialist vehicles such as RCVs and Road Sweepers is desirable but not essential.
* A full HGV licence with DCPC; training can be provided to a successful candidate.
We are committed to training and development. As a minimum, the candidate will need the heavy goods maintenance City & Guilds NVQ or equivalent qualification. If you do not meet all criteria, we will consider how training can help you achieve it in the role.
