The post holder will work as a skilled Nurse Specialist within the Neurosurgery multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care. The nurse must be an experienced, registered nurse with Neurosurgery/Neurology experience.
This is a full-time Neurosurgical Nurse specialist role covering maternity leave for one year. The post involves working with a multi-professional team, including Advanced Clinical Practitioners, Neurosurgery Consultants, Registrars, junior doctors, and therapists, to support ward patients and their families.
The role includes acting as a professional role model and collaborating with colleagues to develop a clinically excellent service.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Collaborate with registrars, junior doctors, and Advanced Nurse Practitioners to assess, plan pathways, and ensure high-quality Neurosurgical care.
Take personal responsibility for adhering to Trust and local policies, ensuring duties align with professional standards.
Demonstrate experience working in NMSK departments, handling stressful environments, and managing emotional or aggressive patients and carers.
Present information clearly and logically, and work effectively under supervision, responding constructively to feedback.

* Current RGN registration with a professional body
* At least 3 years post-qualification experience
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Experience caring for Neurosurgical, Neuro medical, oncology, and palliative patients
* Problem-solving skills and ability to prioritize
* Ability to build relationships within the Trust and externally
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team
* Recognized teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one
* Excellent communication and organizational skills
* Knowledge of neurological cancer care and management
* Computer skills related to data management, communication, and auditing
* Understanding of national and local cancer issues and strategies
The successful candidate will usually start at the minimum of the pay scale unless prior NHS service at the same band exists. Progression is through annual increments.
