An exciting opportunity to work as a Logistics Assistant within the Greater Manchester Area of the North West Ambulance Service. The postholder will provide logistics support in an operational sector of Greater Manchester, with base location in OLDHAM, ensuring vehicles, equipment and consumables are available for frontline staff. The role supports the safe and effective deployment of ambulance resources by maintaining a well-supported operational environment and will work closely with operational managers, the fleet department and clinical teams to sustain standards of preparedness and service resilience across the designated sector.

Responsibilities
* Maintain routine vehicle readiness checks; ensure vehicles are clean, fuelled, roadworthy and appropriately equipped.
* Restock consumables, coordinate equipment servicing, and support the fleet team to coordinate vehicle movements for maintenance, deep cleaning, or other operational needs. Movement coordination may include driving ambulances and rapid response vehicles, including both traditional engine and electric models.
* Assist the local operational team with ordering of consumables and unpacking stores on arrival at stations; undertake inventory checks and help resolve discrepancies.
* Ensure all medical equipment is clean, functional, in-date and properly stored; support calibration, servicing and repair by liaising with internal departments and external suppliers; identify and remove faulty or expired equipment and ensure timely reporting and replacement.
* Support the calibration, servicing and repair of medical equipment through liaison with appropriate internal departments and external suppliers.
* Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical staff to support efficiency, enhance service delivery, operational effectiveness and a cohesive working environment.
* Undertake duties as required by the Group Manager and local leadership team, contributing to effective teamwork and continuous improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Flexibility, attention to detail and a commitment to high standards.
* Full driving licence appropriate for driving an ambulance; able to work across multiple locations within the sector/area.
* Ability to perform physical work, coordinate tasks and take a proactive approach to problem solving in a fast-paced, emergency healthcare environment.
* Effective communication with clinical and non-clinical staff and ability to work collaboratively with other logistics postholders.
* Experience in inventory management and a track record of supporting operational teams in high-pressure settings is desirable.
Organisation and Reporting
The post holder will report to the relevant Group Manager and work in close contact with the local leadership team.
