Bookkeeper
About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join a well established practice. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing client accounts, ensuring accurate financial records and assisting with compliance under Making Tax Digital (MTD) regulations. Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date client accounting records, including journals, ledgers and reconciliations.
* Prepare and submit VAT returns digitally in compliance with MTD requirements.
* Process invoices, receipts, and payments for multiple clients efficiently.
* Assist clients with bookkeeping queries and provide guidance on financial processes.
* Reconcile bank statements and monitor client cash flow.
* Support preparation of management accounts and reports for clients.
* Collaborate with accountants to prepare year-end accounts and tax returns.
* Stay up to date with current bookkeeping practices, software updates and MTD regulations.
* Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance.
Requirements:
* Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, ideally within an accountancy or bookkeeping practice.
* Strong knowledge of Making Tax Digital (MTD) for VAT submissions.
* Experience with accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
* Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients.
Good communication skills and ability to liaise with clients professionally.
Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualifications (e.g., AAT or equivalent) preferred.
