Our Creative Media section provides our learners with the skills and knowledge with which to progress onto a relevant degree at HE level or directly into a rewarding career within the media, television, film, and creative industry. We work closely with UAL, our awarding body, to ensure our courses are both subject and industry relevant.
We are seeking a full time Lecturer to join our successful team and deliver across a range of UAL Media programmes from Level 1 to Level 3. You will also work off-site with students during practical exercises and assist in developing industry links for student work experience.
You will need to possess a degree in the relevant subject area or equivalent, with up to date knowledge of the subject area and good working knowledge and experience of editing. Ideally you will have some teaching or training experience, and will be able to engage and communicate effectively with learners aged 16-19. If you do not currently possess an Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the Further Education sector, you will be supported to obtain this by the College.
MAIN PURPOSE
The main purpose of the job is to ensure the retention and achievement of students through the delivery of good practice in teaching and learning.To teach, develop and improve programmes of study in subjects and courses relevant to the post holder’s knowledge, qualifications and experience.
DUTIES SPECIFIC TO THE POST
All lecturers have a generic list of duties (see below) and some which are specific to the post holder.These include:-
·Teaching on a range of Media courses including UAL L1, L2 and L3 programmes.
·Flexibility in working ‘on and off site’ with students during practical exercises
·Forging links with industry for visiting speakers and work experience
·Contributing to production of promotional material
Qualifications:
·A degree in the relevant subject area
·Maths and English at GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent, or willing to achieve
·Minimum Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g DET, PGCE or equivalent) or willing to work towards one, supported by the College
Knowledge and Experience:
·Successful experience of teaching Media, including delivery of UAL or BTEC programmes
·Current or recent experience in the television or film industries
·Up-to-date knowledge of the subject area
·Good working knowledge of editing systems and experience of editing
·Experience of using the Adobe Creative Suite
Other skills:
·The ability to engage and inspire vocational learners aged 16 -19
·Good communication skills, written and verbal
·Good interpersonal skills
·Good classroom practice
·Good IT skills and ability to use IT to deliver the curriculum, including online/remote teaching
·Good administration/organisational skills
