Because of significant business growth in an exciting mission critical sector, we have a requirement for a security-cleared System Engineer based in the UK, working at customer sites in the Avon, Gloucestershire and Herefordshire regions. This is a new opportunity to work with our expanding team. Your role in Leidos will involve working alongside our customers to solve some of their most complex and unique problems. WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced technical System Engineer to join our delivery teams, supporting a range of projects, from small electronic prototypes with embedded software to complex on-prem and cloud systems projects. This role demands strong technical leadership, excellent communication skills, flexibility and a good understanding of System Engineering principles and practices, able to apply them flexibly to several projects of different sizes, scales and complexities. The role will cover a variety of disciplines, from requirements capture and management, to elaboration of System Architectures and High-Level Designs for the Delivery Teams to work from. The work spans several customers and a broad range of technologies and so requires a flexible and adaptive approach System Engineering whilst maintaining appropriate rigour. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining the design baseline at an appropriate level, ensuring it remains consistent with the requirements, Architecture and as-built baselines. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Oversee the full lifecycle of technical information systems, from initial development to successful delivery. • Engage with customers to understand their requirements and ensure solutions are tailored to meet their needs. • Conduct security reviews and assessments to ensure systems meet operational and security requirements. • Liaise with government agencies, law enforcement, and military stakeholders to ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks and security protocols. • Help definite the engineering life cycle for each project and ensure that relevant Engineering tasks in the defined scope of work are delivered appropriately • Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments to determine optimal system design solutions. • Create and maintain detailed system design documentation, including specifications, diagrams, and interface definitions. • Support the validation and verification of system designs. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware, software, and network components. • Identify opportunities for system improvements and drive the implementation of best practices in design and integration. • Support project planning and estimation activities related to systems design and integration tasks. • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality assurance processes. Required Skills: • Strong understanding of systems engineering methodologies, lifecycle management, and design principles. • Excellent analytical, organisational, problem solving, and communication skills. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in cross-functional teams. • Demonstrated experience in system development and delivery, including technical information systems. • Ability to work with several stakeholders and suppliers, working across organizational boundaries as appropriate • Experience of developing system behavioral diagrams, modelling interfaces and developing models to encapsulate functional requirements • Experience of conducting detailed systems engineering trade solutions to assess options & feasibility and define optimal solutions. • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to fast-changing environments. Desired Skills: • Proven experience leading teams in multidisciplinary settings, particularly in developing tools for covert operations. • Previous experience working with government agencies, law enforcement, and/or military organisations. • Strong digital collection, cyber exploitation, and security vulnerability management knowledge. • Experience conducting security reviews and risk assessments. • Familiarity with industry-standard security frameworks and regulations. • Demonstrable commitment to sharing ideas, technologies and best practices • Willingness to offer fresh, innovative ideas and/or unconventional approaches • Ability to deliver clear messages through dialogue, written work and formal presentation • Knowledge of secure by design guidelines Additional Considerations: Due to the nature of the work, the majority will be conducted on customer sites, with only a small amount of remote working possible.
