About the role:
We are seeking a detail oriented Payroll Administrator to support the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding new starters to off boarding leavers, while ensuring payroll accuracy and legal compliance.
You will manage Right to Work checks, maintain employee records, process shift and payroll changes, calculate holiday and sickness adjustments, and ensure all payroll data is accurate and submitted within strict deadlines. The role also involves producing reports, supporting audits, and advising managers on payroll processes.
This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, confidentiality, and the ability to work accurately under pressure.
Location: Unit C Larkfield Industrial estate, New Hythe Lane, Aylesford, ME20 6SW
Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday
Hours: Monday - Thursday 09:00am – 17:00pm / Friday 09:00am – 15:00pm
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000 depending on experience
What you'll be doing:
* Onboarding new starters and off-boarding leavers, including checking details, completing paperwork, allocating salaries, and calculating holiday accruals.
* Completing Right to Work checks and maintaining compliance, including notifying managers of expiries.
* Managing schedules, pay rules, shift changes, and holiday accruals in Kronos and iTrent.
* Maintaining accurate personnel records, files, and Excel holiday sheets.
* Processing payroll adjustments, including sick pay, AWOL, LTS pay, and other deductions.
* Producing payroll reports, distilling management information, and supporting audits.
* Advising managers and depots on payroll processes and system use.
* Distributing payroll information to depots and working to strict payroll deadlines.
* Writing letters such as AWOL notifications and change letters.
* Ensuring GDPR and data compliance at all times.
What we need from you:
* Proven experience in payroll administration or a similar role, with strong attention to detail.
* Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to work accurately under strict deadlines.
* Proficiency with payroll and scheduling systems (e.g., Kronos, iTrent) and Excel.
* Strong understanding of payroll processes, holiday accrual, and absence management.
* Knowledge of data protection regulations and GDPR compliance.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to advise managers and colleagues on payroll matters.
* A proactive and solution-focused approach, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Right to Work in the UK is essential.
