The post holder will be part of the Children’s Community Nursing Team and will support the team with delivery of high standards of health care to Children and Young People in the community setting.

The main elements of the role are to ensure that stock levels are maintained to facilitate nursing care by qualified team members, and distribution of clinical supplies and equipment to families. They will also be responsible for ensuring medical devices are maintained in good working order, including cleaning and decontamination in line with local policy, ensuing service schedule is maintained.

Maintain clinical stock levels for the nursing team by sourcing, ordering and receipting goods using SBS Oracle, ensuring resources are available in a financially sustainable way.

2. Report any discrepancies to the relevant agency within the appropriate time frame, and monitor progress until the item is received or the order cancelled.

3. Maintain clinical stock cupboards to a high standard, ensuring stock is tidy, within date and rotated effectively.

4. Help with distributing clinical stock/consumables to families when needed and maintain records of all associated costs for supplies for patients.

5. Prepare packs for nursing staff to take on visits, ensuring all necessary equipment and materials are included for procedures such as blood sampling and dressing changes. (Preparation only NOT for job holder to complete task)

6. Daily checking of fridge and ambient cabinet temperatures, recording action taken if temperatures fall outside of given parameters.

7. Undertake daily visual check of defibrillator and complete a monthly Battery Self-Test. Document on checklist. Troubleshoot any faults and report any that cannot be corrected immediately to Clinical Engineering Dept.

8. Maintain accurate records to monitor the location and servicing dates of medical devices, supporting the collection and return of equipment to families where needed.

9. Be responsible for ensuring that equipment andmedical devices are maintained in good working order at all times, including cleaning and decontamination in line with local policy. Ensure prompt servicing, repair or replacement as appropriate in collaboration with Clinical Engineering Department.

10. Plan and prioritise own visits to patients homes to collect/deliver medical devices/consumables. Document within SystmOne in line with Trust policy.

11. Ensure all medical devices allocated to the team are available for annual Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) checks. Update departmental records accordingly.

12. Dispose of clinical waste in accordance with infection control policies and Health & Safety regulations.

13. Identify maintenance issues and promptly raise work requests with the Norse Helpdesk to ensure timely repairs and upkeep of facilities.

14. Answer the telephone and convey messages to the relevant clinician via SystmOne Tasks.

15. Effectively communicate with all relevant parties to ensure continuity of patient care.

16.Ensure that the patient’s privacy and dignity is respected, and confidentiality maintained at all times.

17. Attend and contribute to team meetings.

18. Participate in regular clinical/management supervision and annual Performance Development Reviews.

19. Attend appropriate training and development courses as identified at supervision/PDP meetings. Demonstrate a commitment to keeping skills and competence up to date.

20. Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post.
