Supportability Engineer - Leonardo, Edinburgh
At Leonardo, we have an exciting opportunity for Supportability Engineers to join our Edinburgh site. Whether you are experienced, starting your career in aerospace, or returning to the industry, we want to hear from you.
The Supportability department is involved throughout the full lifecycle of our programs, from Bid, Development, and Production to Customer Support and disposal. We recruit engineers from disciplines such as Electrical and Electronic, Mechanical, and System Engineering to strengthen our team.
You will be part of multidisciplinary teams responsible for delivering the latest Radar version for the Eurofighter Typhoon, the ECRS Mk2. Your role involves building strong relationships across departments like Systems, Electronics, Mechanical, Software, Test Equipment, Quality, and Industrial to proactively identify and resolve complex system issues.
We focus on continuous improvement of our procedures, processes, and department. We encourage our team members to contribute to the community's growth through mentoring, coaching, and sharing best practices to reduce costs and prevent failures. We also support your professional development and career progression.
Typical responsibilities include delivering Supportability Engineering work packages such as:
1. Reliability Analysis: Developing component to system-level reliability models, including using Reliability Block Diagram methodology on electronic, power, RF, digital, and mechanical systems. Experience with reliability testing (e.g., RGT, HALT, ESS) is desirable.
2. Maintainability Analysis: Conducting modular to system-level analysis, addressing Human Factors and Maintenance Task Analysis. Experience with Reliability Centred Maintenance and Scheduled Maintenance to ensure operational capability.
3. Testability Analysis: Analyzing systems for fault detection and isolation effectiveness of Built-In Test (BIT) during operation and repair, focusing on lowest repairable equipment levels.
4. Support Strategy: Developing In-Service Support strategies, performing Level Of Repair Analysis (LORA), and support and through-life cost modeling.
Candidates should ideally hold a degree in an engineering or science discipline and have relevant industry experience. We are particularly interested if you have experience with:
* Failure Modes Effects & Criticality Analysis (FMEA/FMECA)
* Electronic design, especially RF knowledge
* Reading schematics and Bills of Materials (BoM)
* Reliability and Maintainability analysis influencing design
* Testability analysis and fault detection monitoring circuits
* Working effectively within multidisciplinary teams
* Planning and executing activities to meet deadlines
Experience with tools such as MS Office, PTC Windchill, IBM DOORS, Matlab/Simulink, Power BI, JIRA, and Python is beneficial.
