Compliance Associate Location: London (hybrid working - 2 days/week in office) A leading international financial institution is seeking a Compliance Associate to join its highly respected UK Compliance Department in London. What You'll Do
As a Compliance Associate, you will immerse yourself in a varied role that combines advisory responsibilities with hands-on monitoring activities. Your day-to-day work will involve partnering with experienced professionals to provide practical compliance solutions tailored to the needs of Wealth Management, Capital Markets and Corporate Banking. You will be instrumental in embedding robust compliance frameworks by supporting policy development, conducting detailed regulatory analysis and facilitating effective training initiatives. Your ability to communicate complex regulatory concepts clearly will help foster understanding among stakeholders from diverse backgrounds. By contributing to project delivery, reviewing promotional materials for accuracy and fairness, and assisting with essential reporting tasks, you will ensure that the organisation remains compliant with evolving legal requirements while nurturing a culture of integrity. Success in this role means being proactive in identifying potential risks, sharing insights across teams and consistently striving for operational excellence within a supportive network.
* Collaborate closely with senior colleagues in Business Advisory to deliver comprehensive compliance support, advice and assurance across various business functions.
* Support the implementation of UK and Group Compliance policies, procedures and regulatory standards throughout the organisation.
* Conduct horizon-scanning for new regulatory and legislative developments, performing impact assessments in partnership with relevant business units.
* Execute key elements of the Monitoring & Compliance Testing programme by carrying out testing activities, reporting results and advising on enhancements to controls as needed.
* Provide guidance on regulatory risks, issues and areas of exposure, ensuring clear communication with stakeholders at all levels.
* Assist in delivering face-to-face training sessions across all business lines and enabler functions to raise awareness of compliance requirements.
* Contribute to key projects alongside senior team members to ensure ongoing alignment with current and emerging regulatory obligations.
* Work collaboratively with other Compliance colleagues to identify best practices and promote consistency of approach across teams and regions.
* Support the preparation of management information and regulatory reports for both Head Office and local regulators as required.
* Review and approve financial promotion or marketing materials to ensure clarity, fairness and adherence to internal policies as well as external regulations.
What You Bring
To excel as a Compliance Associate, your background should include hands-on experience supporting compliance functions within major financial services environments—particularly those involving Wealth Management, Capital Markets or Corporate Banking. Your proven track record in monitoring programmes demonstrates your attention to detail and commitment to upholding rigorous standards. You bring excellent interpersonal skills that allow you to build trust-based relationships across departments while communicating technical information in an accessible manner. Your methodical approach ensures deadlines are met without compromising quality or accuracy. A solid grasp of UK regulatory frameworks underpins your ability to interpret new developments quickly; any additional familiarity with European legislation further enhances your profile. Professional certifications are welcomed but not required—your enthusiasm for ongoing learning is what sets you apart. Above all, your dependability makes you an invaluable member of any collaborative team.
* Demonstrated experience providing compliance advisory support within Wealth Management, Capital Markets or Corporate Banking sectors is essential for success in this role.
* At least two years’ experience in Compliance Monitoring & Testing within an international banking environment is required.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for articulating complex regulatory issues clearly to diverse audiences.
* A practical, pragmatic approach combined with strong organisational abilities will enable you to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* Self-motivation paired with reliability ensures you can work independently while contributing positively within a team setting.
* Comprehensive knowledge of FCA and PRA handbooks is vital for navigating relevant regulations confidently.
* Familiarity with EU laws and regulations would be advantageous but not mandatory for this position.
* Professional qualifications such as the CISI Diploma or equivalent are desirable but not essential; willingness to pursue further training is valued.
