We need more chefs to help cook our community focused monthly meals, working with existing volunteers, to feed the local community. We already have some loyal volunteers however we need more in order to build resilience. What difference will you make? Some of our community are struggling with the cost of living crisis. Others just enjoy the social aspect of eating together in a relaxed sociable environment. We have a small team of dedicated volunteers who come together to make a really positive impact in their local community. What are we looking for? Applicants need to be comfortable working with a diverse range of volunteers and customers. to be good communicators. to be able to adapt to create menus for adults and children with whatever food we are sent. To remain calm and patient in time sensitive situations. What will you be doing? Using whatever fresh food is delivered by Fairshare, the chefs create the menu and cook the meal, with the help of several willing helpers. The deliveries include; meat, fish, fresh fruit & vegetables and some frozen options. The food arrives on the third Thursday of the month and we currently cook on a Friday afternoon. However, we shortly plan to experiment with cooking on a Saturday instead, to see if this increases the numbers of volunteers and customers attending. We cater for allergens. We also provide vegan or vegetarian options as well as meat. There is a great atmosphere at this event, which is becoming increasingly popular with families and locals alike.
