Job Purpose
To drive performance improvement across the Wastewater System (Wastewater Treatment, Infrastructure & Non-Infrastructure) within a designated geographical area. To work with the County System Performance Manager, Treatment Delivery Manager, and Network Delivery Manager to embed effective ways of working, producing plans to enhance capabilities such as monitoring, control, and automation where appropriate.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
* Drive an integrated and intelligent approach to planning & performance within the county
* Embed situational awareness techniques using multiple datasets, analytics, and visualization tools. Promote the development and use of signature and asset health monitoring for understanding performance trends and deviations across the end-to-end system, building on the Dynamic Network Management capability where available
* Make decisions to enable effective operation within budget, utilizing and deploying resources within the asset group to meet operational needs and company priorities
* Deliver financial targets for their operational area, adhering to operational budgets. Collaborate with other business managers and senior leadership when decisions impact standards or costs elsewhere
* Champion a collaborative system performance team approach that benefits all managers within the area
Technical Skills & Experience
* Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate, performance manage, and develop a large team
* High managerial ability to ensure delivery of financial plans, key performance targets, and regulatory compliance
* Developed analytical skills to identify, develop, and implement solutions for financial, technical, and managerial challenges
* Good planning ability for managing wastewater assets both short-term and long-term
* Experience in the Water or Utilities industry is preferred
* Knowledge of regulatory and legislative frameworks surrounding wastewater operations is highly desirable
Qualifications
* Proven track record as an experienced professional
* A degree in a relevant subject or equivalent experience
* Membership of a professional institution (CIWEM or IWO) is advantageous
* Wastewater technical knowledge to ensure legislative and regulatory compliance

The System Performance Manager team will drive performance improvements across wastewater systems within a designated area. They will collaborate with leaders to embed strategic ways of working, leveraging data analytics, monitoring, and automation, focusing on operational excellence, stakeholder engagement, regulatory compliance, and financial targets to ensure asset health, service quality, and cultural transformation.
