Job Type: Part-Time (0.8 FTE), 30 hours per week, Permanent

About The Job
The Subject Manager holds a significant role within the Assessment Development and Delivery department of the IB, supporting the IB educational programmes in the development and delivery of world class academic assessments for a designated portfolio of subject(s).
Group 2 of the Diploma Programme (Language Acquisition) comprises 2 subjects: Language B and Language ab initio, which are offered in multiple language variants. Language BHL is currently offered in 20 languages, Language BSL in 22 languages and Language ab initio in 15 languages.
The Subject Manager manages and supports teams of contracted educators including senior examiners and Chief Examiners to support the effective delivery of all stages of the assessment cycle. This includes the authoring of examination content, the administrative set-up of the assessment session, the completion of standardisation prior to the launch of live marking, the conduct of Grade Awarding to ensure that the grades awarded to candidates are fair and the appointment and performance management of senior examiners and authors.
The Subject Manager works in collaboration with specialist internal teams, to ensure the quality of assessment and the maintenance of standards over time. This includes the development of valid, authentic and manageable assessments and assessment models that make good use of opportunities offered by digital technology.

* Demonstrate leadership of a team of examiners, including senior examiners
* Lead authoring teams to produce high quality assessments
* Implement effective standardization processes and monitor the marking of assessment material
* Lead grade award meetings for designated subject(s)
* Plan and manage expenses related to assessment for the designated subject(s), as appropriate
* Communicate with internal and external stakeholders any relevant information or advice on assessment related matters for the designated subject(s)
* Represent the assessment perspective in curriculum review.

About You
* A passion for Languages and a demonstrable interest in assessment
* Excellent English comprehension skills in a range of academic areas
* A qualification at degree level in a related subject
* Significant and relevant post-qualification experience in educational assessment, teaching, research, or translation
* Excellent organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
* The ability to analyse and draw conclusions from statistical information
* Good communication and collaboration skills to work with colleagues in various academic areas
* The ability to lead and work within a team and to foster a collaborative environment
* Competence in using standard office software (including Microsoft Word and Excel)
* The ability to manage multiple projects to agreed timelines.
Other Special Requirements
Flexibility to work weekends during peak examinations sessions (May/June, November/December).
