Weare looking for experienced Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists tojoin us in seniorroles (8a) in our Mood, Emotions andRelationships pathway, providing mental health provision to children andyoung people across Devon.

We have the following vacancies:

* 0.8wte position

Preceptorshipopportunity - new or soon to be qualified colleagues could beappointed to these roles at band 7 under a preceptorship to work towardsrequirements for band 8a, subject to satisfactory completion of preceptorshipprocess.

Main duties of the job

Asa Senior Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist, you will be offeringhigh-quality complex assessments and psychotherapy to children, young peopleand their families. You will bring advanced assessment, formulation, therapyand consultative skills to the pathway as well as applying your specialistthinking to wider service development contributions.

Therewill be CPD opportunities to support your development and a commitment tosupporting your career progression at this stage in relation to consolidatingyour supervisory role and leadership skills as well as further expanding yourclinical knowledge and skills.

Youwill have regular clinical supervision and separate line management. You willbe supported with a job plan with opportunities to use a breadth of skillsincluding research and service development. There is a growing, friendlynetwork of Child & Adolescent Psychotherapists working across CFHD with,bringing increasing opportunities for shared CPD and professional support. Weare committed to supporting the growth of the profession and the provision ofTrainee placements.

About us

Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.

CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children and young people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver locality and county-wide based integrated access to all of our services, based on the i-Thrive Framework.

CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth, Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinical training placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake post graduate training.

Our integrated care and treatment has been developed and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.


Job responsibilities

Youwill be a qualified and experienced Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist readyto move into a Senior role. You will have a passion for working with children,young people and families with complex needs. You will have the knowledge andskills to undertake complex assessments and deliver skilful psychotherapyinterventions. You will have experience in supporting the development of othersthrough supervision and training and be keen to further develop this. You willbe a reflective practitioner with strengths to bring to a multi-disciplinaryteam and consultative work. You will be committed to service user participationand collaborative working with children, young people, parents, carers andfamilies. You will have a good understanding of safeguarding across thelifespan. You will be motivated to further develop your leadership skills tocontribute to quality improvement and service development within your pathwayand the wider service.

Mood,Emotions and Relationships Pathway

Theappointed Senior Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist will work within astrong multi-disciplinary team, providing assessments and therapy to childrenwith severe, chronic and enduring mental health concerns such as depression,anxiety-based disorders and Trauma. You would be expected to work withchildren, young people and families to understand their experiences andpresenting concerns in order to formulate and provide an appropriateevidence-based intervention. You will work with other agencies as required andbe able to assess and respond to clinical and safeguarding risks as needed. Youwill contribute to team discussions and complex case consultations, bringingenhanced formulation skills as well as knowledge and experience to support theteam processes, reflections and formulation.

Asa Senior Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist, you will require a high degreeof professional autonomy and self-management. You will provide clinicalsupervision to Trainee Psychotherapists when possible as well as Band 7colleagues and colleagues from other disciplines where appropriate. You willuse your clinical leadership, audit and research skill to take a lead in areasof service development to support a culture of Quality improvement.

Themulti-disciplinary teams include registered Mental Health Practitioners from arange of backgrounds including Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work andcreative therapies, Child & Adolescent Psychotherapy colleagues, SystemicPsychotherapists, Clinical Psychologists, CBT Therapists and Psychiatrists.


Person Specification


Experience

* Experience of working collaboratively with service users and their families/carers, including using goal-based care and routine outcome measures in practice.
* Experience of working collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team and across agencies.
* Experience of working with a wide variety of child mental health problems, across the whole age range, reflecting all levels of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems and verbal abuse.
* Experience of undertaking specialist mental health assessment and therapeutic interventions for children and young people with highly complex mental health problems; including risk assessments.
* Experience in providing effective clinical supervision, teaching, training and assessing in clinical practice.
* Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.
* Experience that evidences an ability to tend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice.
* Experience of initiating, attending and contributing to multi-professional and inter-agency meetings.
* Experience of providing professional teaching and developing training for other professionals.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for children and young peoples psychological care and treatment, as an individual practitioner and also within the context of a multidisciplinary care plan.


Qualifications

* Doctorate Level ACP accredited training in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy.
* Full member of Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).
* Post qualification specialist therapy/assessment training relevant to children and young people
* Post qualification training or proven equivalent experience in supervision.
