Materials Buyer – (6-Month Contract) Location: Ellesmere Port (Hybrid) Contract Type: 6-Month Contract (Outside IR35) Sector: Construction/Electrical Subcontracting Overview H9 Talent Solutions are recruiting for an experienced Materials Buyer to support a specialist electrical subcontractor within the construction sector. This is a 6-month contract (outside IR35), where you’ll be responsible for the procurement and timely delivery of materials across multiple projects, ensuring cost efficiency, quality, and compliance with project deadlines. Key Responsibilities Source and purchase electrical and construction-related materials in line with project requirements Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive pricing Negotiate terms, costs, and delivery schedules to optimise value for the business Monitor stock levels and manage the timely delivery of materials to multiple project sites Work closely with project teams to forecast demand and ensure materials align with project timelines Manage purchase orders, invoices, and documentation in line with company procedures Identify and mitigate risks relating to supply chain or procurement delays Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sustainability standards in all procurement activities Experience & Skills Required Proven experience as a Buyer or Materials Buyer Strong knowledge of electrical materials and supply chains within construction Excellent negotiation and supplier management skills Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong IT skills with experience using procurement systems or ERP software Excellent organisational and communication skills Immediate availability preferred due to contract nature
