Room Leader Location: Alloa Salary: Negotiable Job Purpose The Room Leader is responsible for the day-to-day management of a designated room within the nursery. This includes leading a small team, ensuring high-quality care and education in line with the EYFS, and supporting children's learning, development, safety, and wellbeing. Key Responsibilities Leadership & Management Lead, support, and motivate staff within the room to deliver high-quality practiceAlways act as a role model for best practiceSupport staff with planning, observations, and assessmentsMentor new or less experienced staff and studentsCommunicate effectively with the management team regarding room performance, staffing, and children's needs Childcare & Education Ensure the EYFS framework is implemented effectively within the roomPlan, deliver, and evaluate age-appropriate activities based on children's interests and developmental needsMonitor children's progress and support individual learning plansProvide additional support for children with SEND or EAL, working alongside parents and professionals where requiredSupport children's emotional wellbeing and promote positive behaviour Safeguarding & Welfare Maintain a safe, secure, and stimulating environment at all timesAdhere to safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies and proceduresAct as a safeguarding lead for the room and report concerns appropriatelyEnsure ratios are maintained and daily checks are completed Parent & Carer Partnership Build positive, professional relationships with parents and carersAct as a key person for a group of childrenShare information about children's development, routines, and progressSupport families through transitions, including settling in and moving on to school Administration & Organisation Ensure accurate records are maintained (observations, assessments, registers, accident forms, etc.)Support room organisation, resources, and displaysAttend and contribute to staff meetings, supervisions, and training Person Specification Essential Criteria Level 3 qualification or above in Early Years / ChildcareSound knowledge of the EYFS frameworkExperience working within a nursery or early years settingPrevious experience leading a room or team (or strong deputy experience)Strong communication and organisational skillsGood understanding of safeguarding and child protectionAbility to work effectively as part of a team Desirable Criteria Level 4 or above qualification in Early YearsExperience working with SEND and/or EAL childrenPaediatric First Aid (or willingness to complete)Experience with Ofsted inspectionsLeadership or management training Personal Qualities Caring, enthusiastic, and professionalConfident and approachable leaderFlexible and reliableCommitted to continuous professional developmentPassionate about providing high-quality early years education To Apply If you feel you are a suitable candidate and would like to work for Little Stars Nursery, please do not hesitate to apply.
