Job Description
Overall purpose of the job:
Responsible for providing customer support to our large and diverse client base, ensuring Service Levels are maintained and the ticketing system is fully up to date.
Key responsibilities:
1. Installation of server, network, and storage hardware with associated cabling/patching.
2. Perform cabling/patching duties of both copper and fibre for various client requirements.
3. Decommission hardware and prepare for shipping, coordinating with third-party couriers.
4. Perform remote hands duties within Data Centers, including power cycling, hardware replacement, reseating network cards, and cabling testing.
5. Conduct regular checks for network activity, firewall status, and error alerts using LED indicators or monitoring tools.
6. Audit client cabling and hardware, producing supporting documentation.
7. Collaborate with internal and external teams to diagnose and resolve incidents across technologies.
8. Act as an access host for visitors to client Data Centers.
9. Maintain professionalism and discipline when working within client Data Centers.
10. Adhere to ISO 9001, ISO 27001, ISO 20000, and ITIL standards and best practices.
11. Manage and process Access, Remote Hands, and delivery tickets for colocation clients and internal projects.
12. Demonstrate understanding of policies and procedures of third-party Data Centre providers.
13. Keep Data Centers clean and presentable at all times.
14. Gain foundational support skills within Data Centers with potential to progress to other roles.
15. Participate in 24/7 on-call rotations to support client access, migrations, Smart Hands requests, installations, scheduled maintenance, upgrades, and fault resolution.
Skills and experience required:
1. Ability to pass security checks, including SC and BPSS clearance.
2. Full UK Driving License and personal vehicle.
3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
4. Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
5. Well-organized, self-motivated, able to work independently and in a team.
6. Willingness to learn, with a friendly, professional, and flexible attitude.
