The Role
Our new Operations Manager will take full responsibility for leading and developing production teams to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality food manufacturing operations. Working within a fast-paced FMCG environment, you will ensure production plans are delivered while driving strong performance across safety, quality, cost and service.
Operating within a modern food production site, this role combines production leadership, operational delivery and continuous improvement. You will work closely with planning, technical and engineering teams to maximise efficiency, minimise waste and ensure products consistently meet the highest standards.
This role is a hands on role where you are expected to lead from the front - you will be based onsite in Haverhill, 5 days per week
Your Key Responsibilities
The Operations Manager will be responsible for leading production teams while ensuring operational targets are delivered safely and efficiently.
1. Lead, develop and motivate production teams to deliver strong performance across safety, quality, delivery and cost.
2. Ensure production plans are delivered efficiently, maximising yield while minimising downtime and waste.
3. Communicate clear departmental targets and ensure processes align with company policies and operational standards.
4. Coach and support Team Leaders and junior managers to build capability and strengthen leadership across the department.
5. Work closely with the Planning team to ensure labour levels and resources align with production requirements.
6. Monitor and manage operational performance using KPIs, driving continuous improvement initiatives across the department.
7. Maintain strong GMP standards through regular auditing, feedback and corrective actions.
8. Build effective working relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operational delivery.
The Ideal Candidate
You will be an experienced operations or production leader within a fast-moving manufacturing environment who enjoys developing teams and improving operational performance.
9. Proven experience in food manufacturing or FMCG production environments.
10. Strong understanding of production planning, labour management and operational KPIs.
11. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
12. Experience managing and developing team leaders or supervisory teams.
13. Understanding of food safety, GMP and quality standards within a production environment.
14. Strong communication and relationship-building skills across operational teams.
15. Highly organised with strong problem-solving and decision-making capability.
16. Motivated to drive improvements and raise operational standards.
