The role & about the client:
On behalf of our client, ITS Building People are recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a reputable construction company. The candidate for this role must have proven experience in the role within the construction industry.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Calculate costs for materials, labor, equipment and subcontractor services to produce accurate and competitive bids
Analyse drawings, project scope and related documents to understand construction requirements
Visit project sites (when necessary) to assess existing conditions and gather data for more accurate estimates
Request and evaluate quotes from vendors and subcontractors to ensure the best pricing and service.
Conduct detailed take offs for all trades involved, ensuring accurate measurement of materials and labor needs
Prepare and submit formal bid packages, including breakdowns of costs, timelines and assumptions.
Attend site walks and pre bid conferences to gather information
Provide alternative construction methods or materials to reduce costs without compromising quality or code compliance.
Work closely with project managers and clients to align on scope, timelines and budget expectations
Stay current with market conditions, labor rates and material costs to ensure accurate competitive estimating
Assist in clarifying scope and pricing during the contract award phase. Essential Qualifications/ experience required/ specific requirements for the role:
Previous relevant experience working with contractors
Relevant tickets/ qualifications
Experience preparing detailed quantity take offs, cost estimates and bid proposals
Familiarity with local building codes, construction methods and market rates
Strong Microsoft Office skills, Excel
Knowledge of project management software
Strong communication and negotiation skills
Excellent analytical and mathematical skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in calculations
Good understanding of construction materials, labor, equipment and subcontractors processes. How to apply:
