Job Title: Registered Manager (Children’s Residential Home)

Location: Multiple Homes – North Hertfordshire

Salary: £45,000–£55,000 per annum (Permanent)

Start Date: Go-live dates between January and May 2026 (flexible)

Role Overview

As a Registered Manager, you will provide full operational and professional leadership for one (or more) of our children’s residential homes. You will ensure the highest standards of care, lead a motivated staff team, maintain full regulatory compliance and cultivate a warm, trauma-informed environment where children and young people can thrive.


Key Responsibilities


* Lead, manage and develop the home to deliver outstanding care for children aged 7–18.
* Ensure full compliance with all relevant legislation and statutory guidance, including the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
* Maintain accountability as the Registered Manager, ensuring integrity, professional fitness, staff oversight and complete recruitment/qualification records.
* Embed trauma-informed practice, safeguarding excellence, positive behaviour support and multi-agency partnership working.
* Supervise, inspire and develop a skilled staff team, ensuring high-quality practice and continuous professional development.
* Manage day-to-day operations, including budgeting, staffing, admissions, placement planning, transitions, complaints and home development.
* Contribute to governance and quality assurance processes, working closely with the Responsible Individual, Head of Compliance & Governance, QA partners and external agencies.
* Build a warm, inclusive home culture where children feel safe, respected, valued and empowered to reach their full potential.


Essential Qualifications & Experience


* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (England), or actively working towards it.
* At least two years’ experience in a children’s residential setting within the last five years.
* Minimum one year of supervising or managing staff in a care environment.
* Strong understanding of safeguarding, Ofsted requirements, regulatory compliance and quality standards.
* Excellent leadership, people-development and communication skills.
* Empathy, resilience and a values-driven commitment to improving children’s lives.
* Ability to manage budgets, staffing rotas and operational priorities effectively.
* Full UK driving licence preferred (travel across North Hertfordshire required).
