Purpose of job
Birketts is recruiting for an ambitious, driven, and forward-thinking environmental lawyer to join our growing Planning and Environmental Team on a permanent basis. The team operates across four offices and is expanding, so the ability to work across offices and travel occasionally is essential. The role is ideally based in Cambridge or Ipswich to ensure proper supervision and a diverse range of work.
You will provide professional, proactive, high-level legal support to specific fee earners and the wider team. The team manages a diverse caseload of planning and environmental work, primarily focusing on delivering high-quality environmental law advice to clients.
Experience in planning law and environmental law is beneficial, but not essential. Willingness to learn about planning law and the planning system relevant to environmental work is required.
Accountabilities
* Support the Planning and Environmental team in achieving its growth and client service goals.
* Collaborate effectively with colleagues, supervise junior staff, and seek supervision from seniors.
* Use software such as Microsoft Word and Excel to produce high-standard documents, correspondence, spreadsheets, and presentations.
* Become proficient in legal software like Hi Q, Expert Time Recording, and Compare Docs.
* Prepare advice and documentation to meet client expectations and deadlines.
* Update clients on progress as needed.
* Proofread all work for spelling and grammatical accuracy.
* Participate in business development activities for the team and firm.
Candidate Profile
