Role: SAP S/4HANA Finance Manager

Work Mode: Perm/Contract
Work Schedule: 4 days/week for the first few months, then 3 days/week
Role Overview
We are seeking a seasoned SAP S/4HANA Finance Manager to lead the Finance workstream delivery for a greenfield SAP S/4HANA implementation in a Banking & Financial Services (BFS) environment. This is a senior client-facing leadership role, responsible for end-to-end finance delivery execution, governance, quality assurance, and stakeholder management. The role requires deep SAP S/4HANA Finance expertise, strong program leadership skills, and proven experience delivering high-quality outcomes in regulated financial environments. The Finance Manager works closely with the Finance Solutions Architect, Program Manager, and cross-functional leads to ensure successful delivery from Fit-to-Standard through go-live and hypercare.
Key Responsibilities
Client Leadership & Stakeholder Management
* Act as the primary liaison with client finance stakeholders, including:
o CFO organization
o Finance Controllers
o Accounting, Reporting, and Compliance teams
o Client Project and Program Management
* Build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders and represent the Finance workstream in governance forums
* Support client change management, finance transformation initiatives, and business readiness activities
SAP S/4HANA Finance Delivery Leadership
* Lead and manage end-to-end SAP S/4HANA Finance delivery, covering:
o Fit-to-Standard and design
o Build and configuration
o Testing (Unit, SIT, UAT)
o Cutover, go-live, and hypercare
* Drive solution implementation across core SAP S/4HANA Finance submodules, including:
o FI-GL (General Ledger & Universal Journal)
o FI-AP (Accounts Payable)
o FI-AR (Accounts Receivable)
o Bank Accounting & Cash Management
o Asset Accounting (FI-AA)
o Period-End, Month-End, and Year-End Closing
o Financial, Statutory, and Management Reporting
Integration Oversight & End-to-End Process Alignment
* Ensure seamless finance integration alignment with:
o SAP Ariba (procurement, invoicing, and finance postings)
o SAP SuccessFactors (HR payroll postings and finance reporting, where applicable)
o Other third-party and legacy systems
* Coordinate closely with Technical, Ariba, and SuccessFactors leads to ensure end-to-end process integrity and reconciliation
Governance, Quality & Compliance
* Own delivery governance and quality assurance for all finance deliverables, including:
o Functional design and solution documentation
o Configuration and build reviews
o Testing strategy, execution oversight, and defect triage
o Cutover planning, mock conversions, and execution
* Ensure compliance with BFS regulatory, audit, and internal control requirements
* Review and approve:
o Functional specifications
o Configuration and solution decisions
o Design deviations and solution trade-offs
* Proactively manage finance scope, risks, dependencies, and issue resolution
Team Leadership & Delivery Management
* Lead, mentor, and guide onsite and offshore SAP Finance consultants
* Ensure consistent delivery standards, best practices, and knowledge sharing across the Finance team
* Coordinate closely with the Finance Solutions Architect to ensure design integrity and execution alignment
Required Skills & Experience
* 15+ years of SAP Finance experience, with leadership roles on large-scale programs
* Proven experience leading SAP S/4HANA Finance greenfield implementations
* Deep SAP S/4HANA Finance expertise across:
o Financial Accounting and Period-End Close
o Statutory, Regulatory, and Management Reporting
o Finance controls, audit, and compliance
* Strong experience operating within BFS or other regulated financial services environments
* Extensive client-facing experience with senior finance stakeholders
* Demonstrated experience in delivery governance, quality assurance, and program execution
* Strong understanding of finance integration touchpoints with SAP Ariba and SAP SuccessFactors
Preferred Qualifications
* SAP S/4HANA Finance certification
* Prior experience with BFS clients in the UK or European markets
* Exposure to Central Finance, Group Reporting, or Advanced Financial Close
* Experience delivering finance solutions in global, multi-entity, or multi-country landscapes
* Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills
* Executive-level communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
* High attention to detail with a quality-first and risk-aware mindset
* Ability to operate effectively in complex, large-scale, and regulated environments
