Role Summary


Are you a Registered Nurse with Theatre experience or an Operating Department Practitioner ready for a new challenge? Due to internal promotion, we are looking for a Clinical Matron to join our renowned PEOC (Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre) Operating Theatres.


You'll be joining a department with an outstanding reputation, working on specialised surgeries, including robotics, research studies, and supporting trauma services. The friendly and supportive team is dedicated to providing safe, exceptional care to patients.

As Clinical Matron for PEOC, you'll play a key role within the surgical care group, providing professional leadership and management of 5 orthopaedic theatres. You will have responsibility and accountability for the provision of the highest standard of clinical care in the pre and perioperative setting.


In this busy and varied role, you'll play an active part in the professional networks within the Royal Devon. You won't be on your own; you'll be supported by the Divisional Nurses for advice, support, development, and professional guidance.


Key duties

* Provide visible leadership support, advice, and assistance required by patients, their families, and carers
* Focus on ensuring positive outcomes for patient/client safety, patient experience, and user engagement
* Maintain activity levels, managing service pressures & patient flow
* Ensure the highest levels of patient care and clinical outcomes
* Lead on delegated projects on behalf of the Divisional Nurses
* Support the Divisional Nurses for day-to-day operational issues, and deputise as required
