The primary purpose of this post is to provide essential sports science support and expertise to the British Rowing Olympic Men’s programme. This role will be managed by the Performance Science Lead with the daily deployment of the post-holder led by the Olympic Head Coach - Men.
Sports Science Support
- Conduct physiological testing and biomechanical monitoring as agreed with the coaches and Performance Science Lead.
- Collect video and GPS data to provide technical insight to the coaches.
Training Load Monitoring
- Organise, collect, and process training load data from training and racing scenarios.
Programme Support
- Attend and contribute to regular rowing performance reviews for the Men’s squad.
- Collaborate with the NTC staff to ensure athlete training, recovery, and race day preparation needs are catered for.
Data Management
- Support the collection, storage, and analysis of training and testing data.
Innovation
- Stay abreast of the latest research and innovation related to elite performance and training for endurance athletes
- Any other related work that contributes to the success of the wider GBRT provided that it does not detract from the primary purpose of the post.

A bit about you
We are looking for an experienced and suitably qualified practitioner with a minimum of two years embedded within a high-performance sporting team who can work collaboratively. It is important to be adaptable, approachable, and visible in this role.
Mandatory Requirements
Essential Criteria
- Experience of providing physiological and/or biomechanical support to athletes and coaches
- Sport and exercise science degree with experience in laboratory and field testing of athletes
- Ability to critically evaluate and interpret data and collaborate with coaches to impact performance improvement
Desirable Criteria
- Masters degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field of sport and exercise science
- BASES accredited physiologist or biomechanist, or the experience to obtain this within 6 months
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary team that includes coaches, scientists, and medical practitioners
