The Role
Join a high-impact data transformation programme with one of the UK’s leading utility providers. We are hiring two experienced Data Migration Specialists to lead complex cloud-based migrations from legacy systems to a modern Azure Databricks and Microsoft Fabric environment.
You will play a critical role in ensuring the secure and seamless transfer of real-time, high-volume datasets (1000TB+) with significant business continuity dependencies—particularly in the SCADA, SAP PM, telemetry, and asset management domains.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and execute end-to-end data migration strategies, including pre-migration validation and post-migration audits.
* Design and manage ETL pipelines across Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Synapse.
* Migrate structured/unstructured datasets from Oracle, SAP, SCADA, GIS to Azure cloud data lakes.
* Apply robust data governance controls using Microsoft Purview, Unity Catalog, and Informatica.
* Troubleshoot data quality issues and build rollback/recovery plans for mission-critical flows.
* Collaborate with business stakeholders and engineers to ensure alignment of data models and delivery milestones.
* Apply water utility/telemetry/SCADA domain knowledge to ensure migration compliance and reliability.
Key Skills & Experience
* Proven track record in large-scale data migration projects (>1000TB+).
* Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake, Cosmos DB, ADLS.
* Experience handling unstructured data and data mapping (ETL).
* Data governance tools: Purview, Unity Catalog, Profisee, Informatica.
* Migration risk assessment, data rollback planning, and stakeholder reporting.
* Utilities/SCADA/SAP PM/GIS domain experience is a strong plus.
Desirable Skills
* Python, Kusto, Azure Event Hub, IoT Hub, Azure Kafka, ADX.
* MDM tools: Informatica, Profisee.
* Knowledge of GDPR, data privacy, and regulatory frameworks.
