Role Overview
As an Applications Engineer, you will:
* Collaborate with customers to understand their technical needs and ensure our products meet these requirements.
* Work with Product Development and Management teams to update and create technical documentation for existing and new products, emphasizing quality, performance, and compliance.
* Build relationships with consultants and designers to influence project specifications, including attending client visits.
* Present product features and benefits to specifiers, explaining compliance with standards and legislation.
* Support the design of bespoke drainage solutions and produce detailed technical proposals.
* Provide technical support across regions, including drawing requests and order approvals.
* Deliver CPD presentations and support product launches and installations.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
* HND or higher in Engineering (civil, hydraulic, or related).
* Experience in an engineering office environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, or SolidWorks, including drawing modifications.
* Knowledge of iLogic within Autodesk Inventor.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong English language skills, organized, detail-oriented, and self-managing.
* Valid UK driving license and passport.
* Willingness to travel for client visits, site work, and exhibitions.
* Experience in technical sales or customer-facing engineering roles.
* Ability to confidently interact with clients and produce proposals under pressure.
* Logical thinker with problem-solving skills, referencing data, and using design tools effectively.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
* Knowledge of drainage design drawings, hydraulic modelling software, and relevant standards.
* Experience with SuDS, surface water management, and project management.
* Additional languages are a plus.
* Experience in drainage design and civil disciplines is advantageous.
* Ability to identify opportunities and upsell products.
Key Responsibilities
* Handle inquiries via phone, web, and email, understanding engineering principles and client needs.
* Provide design advice and influence project specifications.
* Create competitive proposals and track competitor activity.
* Assist sales teams with technical proposals, drawings, and quotations.
* Support product launches, site visits, and technical issue resolution.
* Ensure proposals meet SLAs and client requirements, negotiating terms as needed.
* Manage order processing and technical approvals.
* Comply with legislation and quality standards.
