Join SWS as a Housing Officer on a fixed-term contract. With the potential for extension. You'll be a crucial member of a dedicated team assisting individuals moving through the asylum system. You'll ensure vulnerable asylum seekers have access to safe, habitable, and well-equipped accommodation along with the critical support they need. Is this the right opportunity for you? In this role, you’ll ensure all properties within your portfolio are safe, habitable, fit for purpose, and fully equipped. You’ll complete first fixes for faults, such as topping up boiler pressure. You’ll manage on-boarding and withdrawal of properties as needed. What you’ll need to succeed People skills: You’ll be working with people whose first language isn’t English, so good communication skills and experience dealing with people face-to-face are essential. Organisational skills: The role requires excellent organisational skills to manage various responsibilities. Self-motivation and initiative: You’ll work independently across multiple properties, needing resilience, effective communication, and the ability to work to tight timescales. Ability and willingness to travel within the region, and occasionally within the UK. Driver’s license: A valid UK driver's license is essential for this role. (using a company vehicle). DBS check: Due to the nature of the role, we’ll need to successfully carry out a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before you begin. Key responsibilities Conduct up to five property inspections per day, from a portfolio of 60-65 properties Ensure accommodation readiness for new inductions De-escalate and manage conflicts Administer operational cash Facilitate inductions with Service Users and attend emergencies as required Work schedule Hours: 37.5 hours per week over 5 days Shifts: Flexible between 8am to 6pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break Rota: Monday to Friday, on a rota basis What's in it for you?
