Job Title: Support Worker (Part-Time – Child Support)
Location: Preston
Hours: Wednesday evening term time only pm, school holidays 5 hours x Wednesday and Friday
Pay: up to £15 per hour, depending on experience
About the Role:
We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and enthusiastic Support Worker to provide consistent support for a fostered children. Working alongside another experienced Support Worker, you will be responsible for collecting the child from the foster carer's home at 3:30pm and engaging them in fun, structured activities such as trips to local farms, play centres (e.g., Wacky World), or other age-appropriate outings.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collect the child promptly from their foster carer's home.
* Work collaboratively with another Support Worker to ensure a safe, fun and engaging environment during outings.
* Encourage positive social interaction, independence, and confidence in the child through meaningful activities.
* Ensure the child's safety and well-being at all times.
* Maintain professional boundaries and uphold safeguarding practices.
* Provide brief written feedback on each session, as required.
Essential Requirements:
* Experience working with children, preferably those with experience in care or with additional emotional needs.
* A calm, patient and positive attitude.
* Ability to work as part of a team.
* Enhanced DBS (or willing to obtain one).
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
Desirable:
* Knowledge of trauma-informed practice.
* Previous experience in support work, social care or education settings.
