Overview
Horsham District Council is looking for a Senior Property Lawyer to join our dynamic Legal Services Department. Assisting the Head of Legal and Democratic Services, you will provide an efficient and economic legal service to the council in all matters pertaining to property law and practice. All flexible working options are considered including part-time.
Responsibilities
* Draft property contracts, leases, licences, and transfer deeds and provide prompt, clear and accurate written and verbal advice in this specialist field.
* Undertake conveyancing and property work of all kinds, including the acquisition and disposal of land, business and residential leases, landlord and tenant matters, development schemes and agreements, housing enabling work and assets of community value nominations.
* Train, develop, and supervise the Property Lawyer and Legal Assistant staff; provide support, guidance and mentorship, and assist with their transition to fully qualified lawyers.
Qualifications and Skills
* Admitted as a Solicitor, Barrister or Fellow Chartered Legal Executive.
* Ability to deal effectively with a range of people from different backgrounds, using clear, concise, modern and authoritative communication skills.
* Systematic approach to work with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
* Confident IT user with commitment to continuous professional development and effective communication within a team.
* Proven drafting skills to produce clear and concise property documents using modern precedents.
