Elective Home Education and Travelling Children Officer
Salary - £44,075 - £49,282 (Grade 7)
Hours - 37 hours per week
Contract type - Full time, permanent
Work Style - Flexible working, 2 days office based
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the City of Wolverhampton’s Attendance Service, which works with schools and families to encourage education engagement and positive outcomes for all young people in Wolverhampton. The postholder will support the Local Authority’s statutory duties around elective home education and work collaboratively with families, schools and partner agencies to ensure all young people receive a suitable education.
The Attendance Team is part of Wolverhampton's SEND and Inclusion service, which includes the Educational Psychology Service, SEN Early Identification and Support, and Inclusion teams. This is a forward-thinking service that places the best outcomes for children and young people at the heart of all we do.
Key Requirements
The postholder will:
* Be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative as part of a fast-moving team, within statutory frameworks.
* Have experience and knowledge of legal processes and relevant legislation relating to elective home education.
* Be able to demonstrate understanding and application of guidance regarding elective home education, children missing education and school attendance.
* Have the ability to develop excellent working relationships with schools, families and partner agencies.
* Be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
* Have demonstrable ability to provide support and challenge where needed.

Working Arrangements
All council roles are allocated to either a fixed, field or flexible work style. Some roles are agile, enabling employees to maximise performance and productivity while maintaining work-life balance. Fixed workstyle roles are at a permanent council location. Field workstyles typically involve working in the community with a minimum requirement for a touch-down space at a council location. Flexible workstyle roles allow a flexible base location with a mix of home, council offices, partner/client, or external locations as required to meet service needs.
