Overview
What is a Trainee Merchandiser? While it involves aspects of visual merchandising, this role primarily focuses on the commercial side of merchandise management.
The Merchandise department is often considered the commercial heart of a business. Based at Head Office, it makes analytical recommendations and decisions to optimize product performance.
Key Responsibilities of a Merchandise Department:
1. Produce weekly and monthly trade analysis reports on key product categories, including sales and stock intake (WSSI).
2. Identify supply and demand strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, sales, and profitability.
3. Collaborate with the Hong Kong office, global manufacturers, and suppliers to forecast supply flow, timings, and scenarios.
4. Work with stores, online platforms, marketing, finance, and sales teams to manage stock levels and create cost-effective solutions.
5. Ensure the business maximizes profitability through analysis and forecasting of supply and demand.
Role of a Trainee Merchandiser
As part of the global multichannel Merchandise department, your role involves supporting the team by:
* Data entry and management.
* Tracking and reporting discrepancies in production, shipping, orders, or pricing.
* Communicating with various departments and production teams to resolve issues.
* Ensuring the right products are in the right place, at the right time, in the right volume and cost.
