Position: Quality Inspector
Location: Atherstone
Salary: £14 - £15 per hour
Quality Inspector required to join a well-stablished company based in the Atherstone area. The successful candidate will support production through hands-on inspection, problem-solving activities, and the development and maintenance of essential quality documentation.
Quality Inspector Job Overview
Perform shop-floor inspection of components and verify operator competence.
Conduct First-Off and Last-Off inspections.
Complete customer NCR responses, including investigation and full documentation.
(Training provided in 4D and 8D problem-solving.)
Support PPAP activities, including APQP documentation and process flow charts.
(Training provided.)
Create and update Work Instructions and visual aids.
Generate and maintain Control Plans.
Create and update FMEAs (Failure Mode & Effects Analysis) (Training provided.)
Understand and apply SPC (Statistical Process Control) methods, including capability studies such as Cpk indices ≥ 1.67 for automotive requirements. (Training provided.)
Perform internal system audits to IATF 16949:2016 and ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Manage calibration activities and produce gauge reports. (Training provided.)
Produce corrective action reports, identify issues, and verify effectiveness of implemented actions.
Conduct layout inspections for all parts at 6 month intervals to required inspection standards.
Carry out MSA (Measurement System Analysis) studies.
Implement and monitor Stop-Call-Wait processes, Green Racking, and 4M considerations.
Use measurement equipment including verniers, micrometres, height gauges, and checking fixtures.
Quality Inspector Job Requirements
Strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
Ability to use precision measurement equipment (verniers, micrometres, height gauges, fixtures)
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
Good problem-solving skills (4D, 8D - training can be provided)
Understanding of quality standards (IATF 16949:2016, ISO 9001:2015)
Ability to create and update quality documentation (Control Plans, FMEAs, Work Instructions)
Strong communication skills for NCR responses and internal coordination
Competency in conducting audits and investigations
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
