Accounts Payable Manager
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne (Hybrid)
Type of Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
We're on the lookout for an Accounts Payable Manager to join our team at our Global HQ in Newcastle!
Mayborn’s finance team are a central function which manages the finance of a £170m+ revenue global business. The Accounts Payable Manager role oversees the Group’s accounts payable function, which is managed from HQ, with 8 business units and approximately 4,000 invoices per month.
Your role will be responsible the overall success of the function, being a combination of day-to-day management of a key regional ledger, whilst managing the wider accounts payable team.
The role provides an opportunity for someone who is eager to drive transformational change, with the responsibility to both identify and implement process improvements.
What you will be doing:
* Responsible for the management of a small purchase ledger team, working together to achieve to deliver KPI targets
* Responsible for a key purchase ledger region, with full ownership of all parts of the purchase ledger to payment cycle. Including processing og invoices, dispute resolution and processing of payments.
* Ownership of the month end reporting cycle.
* Developing relationships with external suppliers and internal stakeholders. The role is responsible for payment or query escalations to ensure timely resolution.
* Overseeing and managing timelines, payment run processes and KPIs to ensure the team is on track.
* Drive transformational change – both in relation to P2P control cycle and IT transformation.
* Coach, mentor, and develop staff, ensuring high performance and professional growth
What skills and experiences you’ll need to ace this job:
* Proven track record of managing AP operations in a mid to large-sized organization.
* Advanced knowledge of accounts payable processes, vendor management, and internal controls, with experience in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
* Strong leadership and team development skills.
* Ability to problem solve, overcome challenges and drive process improvements.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
* High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial software, and automation tools.
* Skilled in managing KPIs and reporting for AP functions.
* Ability to work accurately and deliver information without mistakes
* Ability to work to deadlines
* Strong ability to multi-task and work across various business units
* High level of attention to detail
* Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
