You will join us on a full-time, permanent contract, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £35,000 - £45,000 per annum, depending on experience. As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be a key part of the team, acting as a point of escalation for infrastructure-related issues and providing 2nd/3rd line support. This role requires strong knowledge of hybrid environments and a focus on security. Your primary objectives will be to ensure the security and stability of the entire IT infrastructure, support monitoring and alerting capabilities, and contribute to strategic projects. You will work collaboratively as part of the wider AIS Team, drive productive ways of working, improve collaboration, and enhance communication to achieve the AIS strategy. Key Responsibilities Security & Compliance: Support security hardening efforts across all systems. This includes configuration and administration of Microsoft Defender, next-generation firewalls, and other security solutions. Manage security policies within Azure Active Directory and Intune. Infrastructure Management: Oversee the administration and maintenance of a hybrid environment, seamlessly integrating on-premises Active Directory with Azure Active Directory using the M365 stack. Manage network devices (e.g., Fortigate, Meraki), including complex VPN configurations. Administer certificate services and print services. System Administration & Support: Provide 2nd/3rd line support for the entire infrastructure. This includes troubleshooting and resolving issues related to SQL Clusters, SFTP servers, File Servers, and Domain Administration, 365 and Azure Administration. Manage and support Business Central environments. Project Involvement: Contribute to and execute various infrastructure projects, supporting migrations. This includes migrating file shares to SharePoint and assisting with secure server migrations to Azure or ESXi upgrades. Cloud & Modern Workplace: Administer and manage cloud services, with a deep understanding of Azure Administration and Azure Fundamentals. Leverage Microsoft Graph and Microsoft Purview for automation, data governance, and compliance. Configure and manage M365 Enterprise Applications. Implement and manage systems using Azure Arc to extend Azure management capabilities to on-premises environments. Disaster Recovery & Monitoring: Enhance, document, and regularly test disaster recovery scenarios using enterprise backup solutions (e.g., Veeam). Use system monitoring tools (e.g., PRTG) to enhance system monitoring and alerting, ensuring a proactive approach to potential issues. Automation & Documentation: Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell to streamline administrative tasks. Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation for all processes, configurations, and project setups. Deputy Responsibilities: Deputise for the Infrastructure Manager during their absence to cover critical duties and ensure business continuity. Maintenance & Lifecycle Management: Oversee the patching and version management of all hosts, servers, and applications, ensuring systems are up to date with the latest security fixes and performance enhancements. What we’re looking for in our Infrastructure Engineer To succeed in this role, you'll need solid experience as an infrastructure engineer providing 2nd/3rd line support. We are looking for someone with proven experience in supporting migration projects, such as host, server, and file share migrations, and the ability to build and upgrade ESXI hosts. Your technical expertise should cover a hybrid environment, integrating on-premises Active Directory with Azure Active Directory. You'll bring deep knowledge of VMware technologies and network engineering. Strong proficiency is also needed in managing SQL Clusters, SFTP servers, Business Central, and Domain/Certificate Administration, including SSL certificates and VPNs. A strong focus on security is essential, so a thorough knowledge of hardening principles and best practices is required. You'll be proficient in PowerShell for automation and have extensive experience with the M365 stack (including Enterprise Apps, Microsoft Graph, and Purview), alongside a solid understanding of Azure Fundamentals and Administration (Azure Arc is a plus). Finally, you should have hands-on experience with technologies covering endpoint management (e.g., SCCM/Intune), network security (e.g., Fortigate), enterprise backup (e.g., Veeam), and system monitoring (e.g., PRTG). While experience with these specific brands is desirable, proficiency with similar enterprise-grade solutions is essential. A strong command of the Microsoft security and management stack, particularly Microsoft Defender and Intune, is key to this role.
