Band 7 Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist in Palliative Care
The CNS contributes to the provision of specialist palliative care in the NorthCamden community for patients facing life-limiting illnesses (within the remit ofthe multi- disciplinary team) accepting patient referrals to agreed criteria andmanaging their own caseload with the support of the Lead Nurse andConsultant Nurse. They will provide advice, education and support to patients,their carers and other health and social care professionals. They will contributeto the development and smooth running of the service. The post holder willwork to agreed professional, departmental and Trust boundaries as required toprovide patient centred seamless care and will take part in the 7 day / weekservice to both community and hospital patients.
Main duties of the job
You should be creative, enthusiastic, and motivated with:
* Broad and extensive post registration experience of working with acutely sick patients, emotionally distressed patients and their families, and terminally ill adults.
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* The ability to work autonomously and as a team member
* Hold a first degree and post registration qualifications in oncology, palliative care, community nursing or other appropriate medical speciality.
* Demonstrate extensive teaching experience.

Education & professional Qualifications
* RGN
* Post registration qualification in palliative care / cancer care / community nursing other medical speciality at level 3
* Post registration teaching qualification i.e.City and Guilds Certificate or extensive teaching experience
* First degree in relevant subject to palliative care nursing
* Advanced Communications Skills
* Non Medical Prescriber (D) ? Advanced Assessment skills
Experience
* Experience and consolidation of registered nursing with evidence of development in a leadership role.
* Experience of caring for patients with advanced, progressive illness
* Experience of working in a learning environment
* Recent experience in caring for patients within the community setting
* Experience of Mentorship
Skills and aptitudes
* Skills and knowledge in general palliative care
* Able to articulate understanding of specialist palliative care
* Able to effectively prioritise
* Understanding of and commitment to team working
* Ability to be self-directional, manage own time and workload
* Can articulate experience of of Clinical Governance responsibilities and issues
