An established engineering consultancy is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to provide strategic leadership across project delivery and business growth within Scotland and the wider UK market.
This is a high -impact executive role suited to a technically accomplished and commercially astute leader who can influence direction, strengthen client partnerships, and drive performance across a growing portfolio.
Role Overview
As Electrical Director, you will take ownership of strategic planning, operational performance and financial oversight within your discipline. You will act as a trusted advisor to key clients, lead multidisciplinary collaboration, and ensure excellence in the delivery of complex engineering schemes.
This role requires a balance of technical authority, commercial accountability and people leadership.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain long -term client relationships, supporting sustained repeat business
* Contribute to and shape regional and sector growth strategies
* Lead and support bid strategy, proposal development and tender coordination
* Oversee project appointments and manage delivery risk across programmes
* Provide executive oversight on medium to large -scale engineering schemes
* Ensure effective coordination and utilisation of technical teams
* Maintain responsibility for financial performance, revenue forecasting and project profitability
* Provide senior -level technical input on complex or high -risk projects
* Support recruitment strategy and senior -level hiring decisions
* Mentor, coach and develop senior engineers and emerging leaders
Candidate Profile
o Chartered Engineer (CEng) with strong electrical engineering expertise
o Extensive experience within a consultancy environment or combined consultancy/contractor background
o Broad understanding of integrated design and complementary engineering disciplines
o Demonstrated ability to lead multi -disciplinary teams and influence senior stakeholders
o Strong commercial awareness with experience overseeing budgets and portfolio performance
o Proven ability to build and maintain client partnerships within a design -led environment
o Strong leadership presence with the ability to motivate and develop high -performing teams
o Experience within science & research or healthcare sectors advantageous but not essential
Requirements
o Chartered Engineer (CEng) in Electrical Engineering
o Degree -qualified in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
o Extensive industry experience (typically 15+ years) within building services engineering
o Significant leadership experience at Associate Director or Director level
o Proven track record delivering large, complex multi -disciplinary engineering projects
o Strong commercial acumen, including portfolio oversight, revenue management and profitability control
o Demonstrated experience shaping business strategy and contributing to regional growth
o Extensive client -facing experience with the ability to build and sustain long -term partnerships
o Strong understanding of integrated design and cross -disciplinary coordination
o Experience leading, mentoring and developing senior engineering teams
o Ability to manage multiple projects, resources and deadlines at portfolio level
o Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills
