Overview

Job Title: Construction Solicitor (Construction) – Manager level. Location: Manchester.

The KPMG Law UK Real Estate team started in December 2013 and is now 11 strong including 5 Partners, with further growth plans during 2026. The team currently includes a Construction Partner and a Construction Senior Manager, hence the need to recruit additional Construction capability at Manager level.


Responsibilities

* Provide legal advice on a broad range of client solutions spanning some or all of the areas of construction law.
* Build relationships with other KPMG teams and KPMG clients to develop and provide multi-disciplinary solutions.
* Project manage and drive projects to conclusion.
* Train and mentor more junior team members.


Qualifications and Experience

* Post-qualification experience in the construction sector, ideally within a real estate department, acting for real estate investment and/or development clients and owners with repeat activity.
* Experience working on real estate contracts, infrastructure (if possible but not essential), building contracts, professional appointments, collateral warranties and other ancillary documents, including bonds and parent company guarantees.
* Experience with development funding and/or development management agreements would be advantageous.
* An entrepreneurial self-starter who is excited by delivering multi-disciplinary legal services in a different environment while providing excellent service to clients.
* Ability to understand the legal solution within the wider business context and to become a more rounded business adviser.
* Driven and proactive team player who enjoys working with people from different backgrounds and disciplines and is keen to mentor junior team members.
* Relationship builder who can spot and develop new opportunities and client relationships within the KPMG network and externally.
* Strong technical lawyer with solid knowledge of relevant legislation and the ability to drive mandates forward.
* Strong academic, technical, and personal skills.
* Ideal candidates may come from law firms; candidates from competitor firms or in-house backgrounds will also be considered.
