Title: Distribution Overhead Line – Technical Advisor
Location: Hong Kong
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Distribution Overhead Line Technical Advisor to join our team. As the Technical Advisor, you will provide technical expertise and guidance to the Distribution Linesman teams ensuring that work is scheduled, planned and delivered to meet company and client requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Provide technical expertise to assist with the construction, maintenance and replacement of overhead electrical networks up to 11kV.
* Conduct site surveys for new projects and liaise with client Engineers to create a work schedule
* Oversee Linesman teams ensuring they have the necessary tools and materials to complete the work and provide on site support as and when necessary
* To train, supervise and support with the daily delivery of work
* By example, provide on the job training to all team members to uplift their competence
* To carryout, continuously review and brief your team on hazards and risks associated with each job.
* To complete required project documentation.
* To lead by example and motivate your team to safely undertake works as directed.
* To work safely at all times and in line with Company, Client and statutory safety requirements.
* To mentor team members and provide guidance to management on construction/safety issues.
* Provide technical assistance to resolve complex technical issues and challenges
* Develop and deliver technical training programmes for the distribution linesman teams
* Develop a competence assessment framework for Distribution Linesman
* Keep up-to-date with industry developments and advise on new technologies and innovations that could improve the safety and efficiency of our distribution network
Who we are looking for:
* Experience as a Distribution Linesman. Experience as a Chargehand is preferable
* Someone looking to transfer their knowledge to upskill linesmen and provide knowledge to trainee linesmen in a new environment and a different culture
* Extensive technical expertise in distribution overhead line design, construction, operation and maintenance
* In particular, extensive technical expertise in the surveying, scheduling and delivery method for replacing LV and HV wooden poles and associated accessories
* Strong knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to overhead lines
* Competent and able to climb wood poles and carry out all pole top works
* Strong ethic and willing to work in challenging environments
* Excellent team working skills and the patience and willingness to train and improve the competence of team members
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities, meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work
* Full UK (or other) driving license
* Experience and qualification for operating plant machinery is desirable
* Previous experience of working overseas is desirable.
